Dr. Melanie Jambrosic is a licensed clinical and sport psychologist and founded Sport Psych Studio in 2020 and is currently based in Chicago, Illinois. Melanie was born in Toronto, Canada, and spent half her life in California. Dr. Melanie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the California State University of Fullerton, where she received Dean’s List in 2010. She then completed her Master’s in Science degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the California State University of Long Beach. She was a part of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and reached a 4.0 GPA status.
Additionally, Dr. Melanie holds a Clinical Psychology Master's and Doctorate from the the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Irvine (previously American School of Professional Psychology of Orange County). Her dissertation is titled "Examining the Relationship Between Collegiate and Professional Athletes' Motivation Types and Clinical Symptoms."
Dr. Melanie also holds memberships with the following professional entities: Graduate Student Affiliate of Center for Self-Determination Theory, Graduate Student Affiliate of American Psychological Association, Student Affiliate of California Psychological Association, Graduate Student Affiliate of Orange County Psychological Association, and Professional Member of Association for Applied Sport Psychology. She also holds two certificates in Mindfulness and one in the Science of Well-Being.
As a child, Dr. Melanie grew up an athlete to help cope with stress and bond with her family. She quickly realized that other psychological factors played significant roles in sports and, as a result, learned that the mental side was crucial to performance and overall well-being. Dr. Melanie's background in both sport and clinical psychology helps her provide a well-rounded view of athletes and performers in any regard. Dr. Melanie has an extensive background in trauma and enjoys working with anyone who has experienced pain and also, feeling alone in the powerless and helplessness of it. Dr. Melanie emphasizes being authentic, living in alignment with one's core values, and not allowing one's past to define themselves. Lastly, coming from an immigrant family, Dr. Melanie understands the potential impact of diversity issues.
Dr. Melanie's breadth of clinical work includes several years as an Applied Behavioral Interventionist treating children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has also provided individual, couples, group, and family therapy to clients across the lifespan with various levels of functioning in diverse settings. Environments include schools, in-home, psychiatric hospitals, community mental health clinics, private practices, and residential vocational programs. Her experience and understanding of psychopathology help her support clients with overall psychological well-being.
